Opening Night “Images of the Drip”

Tracey Callinan with Textile Category Winner Marilyn NichollsFriday 3rd April – opening night for “Images of the Drip” was a great success.

Huge crowd of enthusiastic and supportive friends of the arts and environment.

A number of speakers added colour and interest to the proceedings.

Aliesha Lonsdale, Chairperson for Local Landscouncil, welcomed the exhibition to Fairview ArtSpace &  Councillor Elwyn Lang formally opened the exhibition.

Tracey Callinan, CEO Arts Outwest, presented the awards to the artists.

 The  panel of judges had a very difficult task but theycame to the following decision:

1st Textiles – Marrilyn Nichols “Microcosm of the Drip”

Kevin Pye & Colleen O'Sullivan reading Jane Drummod's "Imprint"1st Hanging Art – Lara Scolari “Carcass”

1st Photography – Lorraine Gratton “Drips Eye View”

1st Sculpture – Karen McPhee ” Locale II”

1st The Written Word – Jane Drummond “Imprint”

Peter Kingston made the trek to Mudgee to help celebrate the opening and support the purpose of

working to save “The Drip”.  He provided the ArtSpace with a drawing of Brett Whiteley painting at the Drip and this is being raffled over the exhibition. Drawn on the 10th May 2009 Don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

Exerpts from Peter Kingston’s movie “Brett & Butter” are being played throughout the exhibition along with a series of photos taken at the Drip.
